Have you tried paper sacks? Then when the sack is empty it can be used for lighting the fire, reused, recycled, or composted?

A rather interesting development on hessian bags

This was part of an email from a hessian bag manufacturer,  when comparing prices

Interesting - but I plan to make a clean break from plastic and have no association with it in the business.

Still very keen to get the Hessian bagged kindling.

As I have already offered to do them for you,  in the size you require

This is the quote for hessian bags

I've been following this, one problem with evaluating 'environmentally friendly' is that it depends what you measure.

Using CO2 as the measure, plastic wins.

However, using nets you will end up releasing plastic fibre into the environment as they wear and some of that will end up in the sea. Hessian wins that one as it is properly biodegradable.

I can't see much plastic being released from a plastic net twixt producer and consumer's black waste bin, washing polyester shirts or strimming grass however...

I was thinking more if the nets are reused then they will wear, the plastic must go somewhere.

You're right it's not the major source of plastic pollution in the world, but can be a reason people want to avoid it.
