So I’ve just had a look at the Ash. It’s still standing but is a whopper! 9’ high, 5.5’ x 4.5’ wide. Must be about 4t in it.

The rot pocket is quite small and does not seem to go anywhere.

Also some pics of the logs he’s already cut up.

But as it’s not dropped I’m not sure how to go about that? So any advice on how to safely get it on the deck would be greatly appreciated.

Looks knackered to me.
Hope I'm wrong.

I would be very wary of the horizontal line in the bark below the birdbox on the right of the photo, looks like an old fence line may have been nailed to it at some point, could be full of iron, could you metal detector it before you put it on the ground?

Could be. Felt solid when I was up there. All the clogged up bits where solid too. But in two minds if I should bother with it or not? Its free regardless. So 3-4t of Firewood if nothing else, but I think I'll drop it and see before I buy a Mill.

I actually have a Metal Detector, I'll run it over it if I go for it.

Looking at it, i would not be getting to exited about it looks like it will have a lot of rot in it and its on a fence line so will be 100% sure it will have its fair share of metal in there and just below the bird box there is 2 horizontal lines ?? whats caused them ?

Yeh fair enough. I did note them. Im guessing thats why whomever dealt with the tree initially gave up where they did. :D

If you take that down/away for free I think the landowner is the real winner!

Maybe.

I though it was on the Deck to be honest. 4t of Ash for free cant be bad though, even of its just firewood. I'll drop it during the week with my 088 and a 36" Bar. See what like then.

I’ve a feeling that that will be a day of woe. Hopefully I’m wrong (take plenty of files though!).
