.325 depth gauge

running a .325 chain since December. Brand new. Used it about 10 days now. Bought a cheap generic chain gauge from china. When i popped it on the chain, the depth gauge seemed VERY high/ proud above the gauge. I filed a good bit off but stops before it was flush with the gauge, as was not sure if i was messing up. This is the first file for the depth gauge on a new saw remember. After a days cutting, it didnt feel good. Inspection shows wear on the top and side plate. Should i have bought a specific .325 gauge? Had a look on manufactures website. Dead end. Titan dont hv a site. advice appreciated

Buy a proper one.
Excessively low depth gauges can cause a greater risk of kick back. Not to mention overloading the clutch engine etc.
False economy.

Just put a flat file over them ( 3 strokes ) every third sharpen . Its always worked for me .

As Rough says, don't file too much off.
Oregon do a 3/16" kit for .325 chains, can't go far wrong with that.

I’d say buy a gauge,, unlike stubby.. some strokes are harder than others.. ask your mrs.??

I use a gauge on one tooth to work out what they need and do the rest freehand. Ive used the same oregon gauge for the last 10 years.
