Safe working distance from mobile masts

Is there a safe working distance from mobile masts? Links if possible.

I have a spinney to reduce/topp.

Tried google, but lots of info from people wearing tinfoil hats living next to them....

When I had a T Mobile mast installed on my land they said it was o.k. a couple of meters from the emitters, but that was just the guys installing it.

Probably best to contact the operators.  This is something you could read but I suspect talking the the operators is easier:

I believe that you want to stay out of the ‘line-of-fire’ of the drum shaped bits - they fire a focused beam at the next mast’s drum etc etc and that’s where the most harmful radiation (I think) is.

Do they need someone out for that or is it done from a computer?

Did they tell you the minimum distance?
This could be a real problem in the future for arbs as 5G is rolled out.

Don't know how it is done. Will find out when we butcher a Spinney of trees..

Trouble with RF is that it is very hard to know when it is live or not.  They just need to turn off the high power amplifiers in the base station.  People who regularly work with them have to wear monitors to detect it so I'll guess as you won;t have that they have no choice but to shut it down.  How you know it is shutdown is the bit to be careful of.

 

P.S. The "drum shaped bits" are dish antennas and yes they are more highly focused so are a potential hazard much further away than the other antennas but they are all bad if you get too close.

It will be done remotely.

as said you'll not know (as there is no visible indication) whether they have or haven't done it.
