Best Electric Saw

Iam after an electric saw to trim the round wood prior to going through the processor, so essentially it could easily be done in the same place so no real need to have cordless, although cords are always a pain, question is are the battery saws going to be good enough to chug through 400mm diameter, it’s not every length that needs to be trimmed, and the main consideration would be noise reduction, i guess on the shortlist is cordless milwaukee, dewalt, makita, stihl ? corded i don’t really know what’s out there so would be really interested in your opinions [emoji106]

Yes i think you are bang on, the charge time on the milwaukee is 1.5-3 hrs, realistically we can bring the timber to the saw just prior to loading the deck, and i can hang the cable out the way, also much cheaper, just chatted to dealer, he said makita or husq as the brushes are easy to change, apparently the stihl is a bigger strip out to change the brushes out, so atm it’s looking like corded

Hi,

I recently bought the msa200 as I want to get away from petrol as much as possible. Very happy with it so far, with the fancy charger (cheaper ones are available) it gives a full charge in 45 minutes. I'll be forking out for a second big battery soon enough, then there'll be pretty much zero down time.

I've only got a 12" on it because I'm using it as a climbing saw, between that and my Silky it does great. It doesn't really bog down on thicker stuff, but I wouldn't want to be chewing through it all day. I'd be interested to know how it compares with the 220 in that regard.

I absolutely love the peace and quiet it gives.

edit

What's the future for battery saws? Can we expect something that can pull an 18" bar in a few years?
