How many branches go into 1 m3 of wood chips?

Question

I know there's no exact answer to this question but is there anybody who can indicate (foto) how many branches are needed to produce 1 m3 of wood chips? I'm currently having my almond trees pruned (aprox 40) and I'm thinking about renting a wood chipper to produce mulch for my garden. Wood chips are very expensive here (Mallorca, Spain) and I was wondering if it would be worth renting a wood chipper. Thanks in advance, Karin

Seems a shame to be grubbing up 10 acres of apple trees, whats going there instead?

 

What species of apple are they?

 

I reckon leaving all chip onside is best as will rot down and improve soil and from pic look like the there won't be a large volume.

 

 

Green wood workers bowl turners etc  are always after big diameter apple wood but they are often the types who want everything for free though....

 

Maybe you could try selling some as turning blanks?

 

Also as apple wood chip is sold for smoking maybe has some value?

Chop the timber out, leave brash where it falls and then run a mulcher over it.

@LewisB of this parish used to buy Apple wood @£400/ton if it was processed to his spec, might be worth a PM if you plan on selling any.

The land and orchards have been up for sale for over 2 years, nobody wants orchards around here. They will be turned to grass fields which hopefully someone will want. 
I still grow apples but have as many as I can cope with or manage.  
You lot are talking about apple trees in the way you joke about highly valuable black walnut trees. :D Fantastic until you try to sell it and have the audacity to expect payment. 
I’ve looked into that wanted ad before, transport kills it or brings it down to local firewood price at best.

I think the trim it and mulch the brash is going to be the best version, either that or burn the brash (which is how we have done it in the past). No quick fix on it.
