Importing used Chippers from the US?

Recommended Posts

We need to update our old TW250. The best 10-12inch chippers seem to be the bandits and while there are a few low hour models in the UK they are about £35K-£40K

There are lots in the US around the £25K mark surely it wouldn't cost that much to ship one over?  Anyone imported anything similar?

Unlikely that it wont be on overrun brakes, usually fitted with electric brakes. I think the machines are imported into uk without trailer chassis then mounted onto uk spec chassis? Thatll probably eat alot of any savings you make getting it converted.

From door to door ours cost around the two thousand mark to ship over, the shipping company took care of everything so was simple and stress free to import.

Sounds like it could be worth doing?

What did you buy?

What was the saving?

Who was the shipping company?

Sorry how foolish of me not to assume someone would import a Chipper and not actually let anyone else use it or undertake any paid work with it.

Oh yes and they’d take it the scrapyard or on a boat to Africa after they’ve finished with it.

I’ll leave it at that, people paid a lot more than me will be asking the questions come an incident.

Why does it need Ce markings if you’re using it yourself and not selling it in the eu

Any product sold within the EU requires a ce mark. Did your chipper come from the us as I believe they have their own scheme. I am quite sure if it was safe enough for Americans to use, it should be safe enough for the brit why would it suddenly be dangerous?
