Oil change on the Sherpa Agri...

The Sherpa manual gives almost no detail on engine oil change other than that it obvs needs it. The GX390 Honda manual talks about engine oil and reduction case oil. The Sherpa manual doesn't mention reduction case oil.

The engine itself has what looks like two drain plugs either side of the engine, one of which is unusable because it's so close to the red sherpa bodywork. It also has two oil level access points, again on either side of the crank case. One is alu, and has a dipstick, the other black plastic without dipstick.

I drained the oil, and filled it to halfway up the dipstick on the alu filler. I'm assuming that's right, and there is no reduction case to worry about?

Also, 10W30 as per Honda manual or 10W40 as per Sherpa manual? Does it even matter?

In warranty etc, do what Sherpa say. Out of warranty etc, I'd trust Honda over them. Real difference, not a lot in my opinion.

Do you think there will be any disadvantages.
You’re going to need more hydraulic power to turn the wheels perhaps?

Raising the COG?

Might lean more if you're not in the centre of the load? Depends on tyre pressure. I think those things usually run at something really low like 7 PSI when they're on quad bikes. Mark will have put sixty in them of course.

There’s plenty of power to turn the wheels Mick.

I’m not racing.

COG is raised, but the platform is more stable.

Also gain a couple of inches in lift height, which will be handy for clearing the tailgate.

Pretty sure the pros will outweigh the cons.

Forgot to get a picture of me in my new F1 boiler suit doing the wheel changes.

I whacked 250 in them, that’s all my gauge has got.

Yeah that’s fine. I use 10w40 in all my basic diesel and petrol engines.

no reduction case on these it’s a direct drive to the pump.
