Hi I have checked with my sparky who revamped our electrics in the workshop and he reckons we are fine as we have 2 , 32 amp scockets one for the welder and another for my girlfriends stained glass kiln but we wouldn’t be able to use them all at the same time

Hi there, have you thought about swapping out the motor for a single phase motor? It should be easy enough to get a like for like unit with same mounting and shaft size. The only issue would be if it is controlled by a control panel but if it’s a on/off switch should not be a problem. You would have to see what HP motor is needed. Have a word with your spark.

Hi I have thought about changing out the motor but it’s an 8hp motor and apparently they are hard to come by and expensive so if I have to spend £500 or more might as well just get some sort of 3 phase sorted then if more 3 phase kit comes up eg dust extraction, surface planers etc I will be able to run them as well .

Hi Thanks well spotted but I really don’t want to pay that kind of money it’s more that the machine cost me ,hopefully something will come up .

It may be more than your first machine cost but it will probably be less than the total of the next few machines you buy. Think of it like a section commander having seven men with different jobs working under him.
