Builder Fined

Well some justice at last,the guy who cut down 70 odd trees which included a large Redwood to make way for building some houses has been fined £300’000 and the tree surgeon find a further £120’000 guess he will be out of business as can’t see insurance paying up.Tree was worth around £66’000 but in reality irreplaceable.

It’s good, but only just good enough and still subject to appeal. 
 

Hopefully the Trustees of the land where the trees stood will claim for civil loss and will be awarded actually cost of the loss.

If he is made to replant, that should stop the extra house or two.

Do you think the property developers have / are planning to pay out the tree surgeon? Being that it’s been ruled as “deliberate”

They tried to tuck him up with the blame so I doubt they’ll rush to share his bill.

Ah! I only scanned through it on BBC news page. Sounds about right for a developer.

 

Whilst its "only" money and whilst the fine can be built as a cost into the housing estate it'll continue to happen.

They were all roundly condemned in the written judgement.  Haven’t got a link to it right now (stuck at check in desk with a broken baggage conveyor ?) but it’s a good read!
