E5 fuel

I've had a reply from BP

Thank you for your email concerning the fuel sold by BP.

Bioethanol is present in nearly all regular unleaded petrol being sold by fuel suppliers in the UK today.  Bioethanol is also becoming increasingly present in the UK’s super-unleaded (premium/higher octane) petrol too; this is because, in compliance with the UK government’s Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation, fuel suppliers have been required to increase the quantity of bio fuels in their transport fuels since 2008.  As a consequence, the inclusion of bioethanol in our BP Ultimate Unleaded supply chain is an evolving situation and we are therefore unable to give you categorical assurances as to its absence or presence.  However we can assure you that – as required by the The Motor Fuel (Composition and Content) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 – the content of bioethanol in our BP Ultimate Unleaded petrol may contain up to 5% ethanol and diesel fuels up to 7% biodiesel. Currently there are no plans to increase the ethanol content.

I agree !  Never could quite understand why a guy would spend $1000 on a new Saw and then use sub/par fuel+mix oil ... mind-boggling

You say this from a place that still sells ethanol free fuel. The manufacturer can make an engine to run on good or not so good fuel.. but someone can make something they call better and sell for more than twice the price.  Just look at the organic stuff..  is better for you? Well maybe, is it all better than the alternative probably not.

So buying a saw in Brazil , can they afforded run it on  aspen, or do they even sell the stuff.

You must know there there are people  designing stuff  just to sell..And marketing is where it is at

Yah , in the USA the fuel marked ethanol free can LEGALLY contain up to 5% ethanol ... In the newer strato-saws the choice of fuel and mix oil is critical for longevity ... this applies to all saws of course !  The strato-charged saws have ports that inject raw air into the cylinder to delay the charge coming from the case thru the transfers .. this prevents the fresh charge from going out the exhaust like in a conventional Saw ... this is how they get 20% better fuel efficiency in the newer saws ; unfortunately they also run hot (lean) ... there are workarounds to this however that is beyond the scope of this comment
