Rigging course (CS41) South West England

Hi everyone. 

 

I'm looking for a rigging course in the south west, or southern half of England. I am based in Somerset. 

 

I have done courses in the past where one is taught enough to pass the assessment, and I have not really felt like I could go out and actually perform the things I have just been trained to do with any real confidence. I would love to hear if anyone has been on a really comprehensive, thorough rigging course, that went above and beyond what is required for the assessment. 

 

It's such an important part of modern arboriculture, I want to get the best foundation of knowledge I can, from people that are skilled and experienced. 

 

I'm prepared to travel for the right trainer

Might be pushing your definition of southern half of England but I did my rigging earlier this year at Brampton Valley Training near Towcester.

I think some rigging courses are 3 days which is enough to cover the basics, however they run a 5 day course so we were able to set up controlled and uncontrolled speedline, and drift load transfer which you are supposed to know about on the syllabus but not actually carry out to pass the assessment.

I can’t recommend Rob at Blake training enough. Really good training, very friendly and down to earth and the trees worked on are not always straight forward which I found to be beneficial when going out and applying the training to real world scenarios

Highly recommend Terry Banyard based in Wimborne in Dorset. Recently done my CS41 and went way past just what needed to be taught to pass. Looked at loads of different rigging techniques, from double blocking to using the rig ‘n’ wrench.

Roland Heming is also really good. We did way more than what was on the syllabus.
