Vin plates dont say how much you can tow.

 

They say how much the vehicle can weigh fully loaded. They also say how much the vehicle & trailer can weigh.

 

Taking the vehicle max weight from the GTW does not equal the max the trailer can weigh. It only does that IF the vehicle is fully loaded.

 

Lots of pick ups have plates like this

 

MAM 3500kg

GTW 6500kg

 

So it look like you can only tow 3000kg

 

But could tow 3500kg IF the vehicle is under loaded by 500kg.

Very nice and very clean.... Obviously this picture was taken when it was brand new or it is the family motor.... I can't keep a work vehicle looking that good...

They do look nice. I know a couple of guys that have them, but they don't see too much hard work.

What's the general opinion on Auto Vs manual for towing? Is there a preference?

They seem to say that autos are now the preferred choice for towing for most pickups these days. I still like to choose my own gears

This was taken 5 mins after delivery. Hadn’t even driven it at that stage! ?

I just prefer autos as quite urbanised where I live, and traffic jams! The Ranger 3.2 auto can be selectable as well so can drive it like a manual if you want, or of off roading it will lock in gear you select.

I find it's much easier to keep the speed up going up a hill, in an auto. Or maybe I'm just shit at changing gears in time

But for urban areas, the convenience of an auto is hard to ignore....
