I've been thinking.
It's genius.
Even with a 50/60" planer you've still got to do multiple passes.
With a board 10'+ x 4'+ x 4" its ridiculously difficult.
For a commercial set up this is a bargain.
How much is a 72" planer new?

It is genius and would be very handy. But you'd need to have someone operating it all day every day to start making it pay for itself. Maybe there will be a Chinese copy out soon enough.

If you were wide slabbing everyday,
and had a regular drying cycle and kiln.
It would be very viable.
£15k over 5 years.
About £15 a day.
The increase in value of the product, and the desirability, because it's not a sweat n tannin stained board.

you would be better off with a cnc router. Lots of good kits in USA available. much cheaper

im really tempted. I know it’s expensive but looks a great bit of kit and user friendly..

I’m building tables so anything from 400x600 to 1200x3200

Currently the planning/flattening is the most time consuming, messy and less enjoyable part of the process and I really need a solution to make the complete process efficient and fun.

I have a 24" planner/thicknesser but very rare i go that width. If your doing 1200mm the slab mizer could be just the thing

Yeh its so tempting, I’ve emailed for a quote but I’m guessing its around the £15k mark (hopefully inc vat) its a huge outlay and at the stage I’m at would take allot of work to earn its way but long term it looks like the right tool for the job, especially if the sanding function works well as this would save not only time but I’m getting issues with vibration in my hands due to years of abuse so it would potentially allow me to work hard without totally wrecking my body!!

Would be great to hear from someone who took the gamble and see if they regret it tho..

I do not think anyone on here would have call to buy one rick. Its more suited to specialist joinery/sawmill i say.
