Hi , iv read makita is the new Robin.

Has anyone used them. Iv used echo and stihl but neither compare to my old Robin's.

They're in screwfix at 300£

Yes I have the 7500 for a couple of years now, mostly for my own domestic jobs, from looking at the gearbox I'd say it was the same design as my old Robin engined  single sided Barrus one.

It seems good though I don't think it cuts as thick stuff as the rough cut Stihls we had at work. Only problem I had was losing the air filter cover when the screw got loose.

I bought some a couple of months ago from Radmore and Tucker £250+vat, cost a little more than the cheaper Stihls but vibration levels much lower which I like.

So far so good, agree with the comment it's a lightweight trimmer rather than heavy rough cutter but those are much more expensive and heavy.

but the last few stihls iv had dont cut well after a year and cost 150 to sharpen

Seriously? where on earth do you get them sharpened £150 to get them sharpened is a bit extreme, I'd be asking for a new set of blades.

I'm looking into the dolmers also

There as expensive as the stihl ones, but the last few stihls iv had dont cut well after a year and cost 150 to sharpen

Ebay have Chinese copies that are half that price. We only don't buy them cos we have to use OEM parts ? K

All three local shops near me are the same price.

You have to pay for a service they say as they need to take the machine apart they say.

The blades are about 150 plus fitting.

Does seem extremely expensive

You can sharpen them several times on the machine before you need to replace the blades, I use a 4" cordless angle grinder.
