Hitch climber trouble

Hi guys, 

 

Just got myself a hitch climber with a 90cm eye to eye an found there is way to much slack on alot of the knots. Can anyone help as I am transferring from a normal prusik an am reluctant to get a zig zag just yet.

What friction  knots have you tried, 

 

i got the 75cm ?2?

 

i found with this 75 the vt 4 and 3 it was a bit short, and the 3 and 3 was a bit quick for my liking.

so maybe an extra wrap would help you, 

Btw hopefully someone else will chime in. As it will help me hearing others views.

I'd say try a shorter eye to eye. Or just make your own

Yeah 70 or 75cm eye to eye hitch cord and a knut or michoacan hitch.

Theres loads of hitch's.

The hc takes a bit of trial and error to perfect,matching cord type,hitch and rope type can be a pita but once its refined and works the way you want,its a great climbing system.

Loads of variables so I'd echo trying different hitches. Knut and enzyme work reasonably for me.

I must say that YouTube link stihlmadasever posted was an eye opener for me. Ie to switch the pulley sides around. 

So I would go with what others say try different combos first.

 

btw this came up in the play next while watching somthing. Just a few more hitches. But does not say what length of pulley hitch rope. 

I will try a few of these at some point..

70 or 75 used to do me perfect.

I have 5 wrap 3 braid VT, I'm 100kg so I think this is why I found Knut would bind up a bit much.

I did mean to take off and measure over the weekend but it's quite long, using 10mm hitch cord over 13mm rope. I would just buy a few metres of cord, you need to try stuff out and adjust the length so making your own knots is better as well as cheaper in my book.
