Insurance for weekend work

I’m sorry if this has been covered before- basically I’m looking for info regarding insurance to cover me for weekend work. I’m employed full time by a company but I need my own cover for doing my own jobs on the weekend, I had my own cover when I was self employed about 3 years ago but I’m unsure whether you can get insurance that’s more specific to just working 2 days a week (sat/Sunday) and if you can who do people recommend?

My PL is geared to turnover so was cheaper at the stage of weekend bits and pieces. Trust Insurance in my case.

Same as me regarding turnover. Tree surgery insurance covers me for PL and EL for roughly £500 a year. Just basic cover for my evening/ weekend work

Is £500 the cheapest deal available for low turnover? I may need some as a farmer has agreed for me to do some vegetation management on public footpaths across his land but claims his PL/EL won't cover my working. The volunteer groups I belong to don't allow loan working on theirs.

Wouldn’t sell me PL on its own for work involving climbing for the obvious reason of needing someone for aerial rescue. If it’s all ground based work you should get a cheaper price that excludes EL

Yes, I won't be climbing so just brushcutter and the occasional small tree to remove. I'll hold off getting my own PL until I meet up with the LA's footpath officer tomorrow.

Just curious, a farmer paying you to maintain PRoW?

 

I would have expected the LA or PC to do that. LA can devolve task & funding to a PC but it seems unusual for the land owner to be doing footpath maintenance.

Perhapsahe has been told to get it clear and cant be arserd himself .

Unless it’s a whole load of crap he’s put there which needs moving, I’d have thought it would usually be LA (Highways) responsibility to keep PRoW clear. 

 

Unless farmer is taking an  envelope ?from PC then subbing the work out...
