Waxoil chassis paint might work !

Would leave the end of the board impregnated with oil so yes it may work well but at what cost?  Best to not cut Oak in this weather or before the summer.

From the smell I'd guess waxoil is just carnuba wax dissolved in white spirit.

I used to sell to a buyer who had worked at the sawmill since before WW2 when much extraction was still done with horses and farm labour did the forestry work when the agricultural side slackened off.

Oaks were felled in late winter to early spring, extracted when horses had finished the hay and corn harvest and then not milled till December so the initial drying was slow.

Diluted PVA is the usual. I also use roofing paint if I can get it cheaply.

Hi. Is there any preferred PVA and what do you use to dilute. Thanks

PVA if kept under cover,
Most types of paint, oil or wax will work.
Personally for oak I'd use tung bean oil.

Would you dilute the tung oil with white spirit and at what ratio.thanks
