That looks a bit chonked up, what happened, you been trying to do the nut up without the flywheel keyed correctly in place?

Did you use it? A smear of JB weld and key it correctly and should be OK.

Umm.., ask me how I know that..?

Blimey Wonky, I bet the performance of the saw was a bit up and down. .. How long did it run for - do you think - to create that amount of damage?

And errr, was the nut a bit loose by any chance ???

It was not done tight enough, and the rest was as a few blips of the throttle, the first I knew it would no start.

with a little bit of a filing, to take the high spots down, I lifted the key abit so as to locate in the correct position (with a 5* advance) it was tightened correctly and has been fine ever since.

Now I’ve learnt the lesson, ? I won’t need to learn it again ? ?

now I guess you can learn the easy way, from me ?

It such a horrible feeling after you have just put a saw back together! Done it myself also

Can advancing through timing cause any issues?

I have done it on my 2016 201tcm and it hesitates when I go full throttle and is not quite at full power

it often gets jammed up as it doesn’t seem to have the torque to clear wood chips when in all the bar length and I can’t push the saw at all

if cuts like the chain isn’t quite sharp or the depth gauges are high but I know my sharpening is fine it’s just lacking the power that it used to have

I have ordered a new flywheel and I will just go back to normal I think

Restarting this thread with the thought of advancing the timing on a 2022 ms201 mtronic.

Along with opening the muffler up is there a benefit to advancing the timing and if so how many degrees is a good starting point?

I'm opening the muffler up in its original hole more rather than drilling a hole in the side. (Not yet finished)

I assume the m tronic will require a reset once finished
