Found another lump in the brambles. Suspected it was pine and I was probably right.
Sap wood is shot to pieces but the heartwood looks real good. What a lovely aroma it has.

Had fun running the 881 with a 48” lo pro bar and chain. Went through nice and smooth.

First picture is one piece of the recent oak I found and the rest is the pine.

Contract cutting oak today, the guy is semi retired but has probably cut more hardwood in his working life than I’ll ever see. Doesn’t matter how old or experienced you are it’s good to spend time around old boys whom have been there and done it.

Every cut above, below and including the center cut of a log thats cut through and through is quarter sawn anyway, just keep these back if thats what you are after
