woodland mills, yes its made in china, no its not shite, built to fill a void in the market, two canadians were pissed off being ripped off by the big guys and stared having good quality equipment produced in china to  fill the need for reasonably priced kit, .......it does what it says on the box, hasnt got the fancy frills, and your not paying for the name or the ceo's fancy holiday

Sounds more like what I'm looking for, the elusive middle ground. Will try and do a bit of research and see what I can find.

Had a quick look at Wallenstein but their website is a bit dodgy. I did get on but looking at the smaller models, they are very light, only 145kg for the entire machine verses 400 kg for a timber wolf. I know there's a price difference but thats a lot of metal that's missing.

Have also been keeping an eye out for pto chipper similar budget, 9 or 10 inch. We could sometimes use an extra chipper and have a second tractor that’s not used a lot.

For that sort of money it’s probably not worth selling even if only used occasionally.

Branch-logger sounds like a good idea

From web research I'm liking the look of the Woodland Mills WC 68 & 88.

Both reasonable prices and look to be decently put together .

I do note the 88 says min power requirement of 30hp which may steer me to the 68.

I have 2 tractors I can use for this, 35hp & 80hp with the 35hp machine having big flotation tyres so I can get into the wood in the winter and not cause a mess.

Any personal experience with either of these machines?

Welmac in Lincolnshire used to bring in a branch logger. I have a client who has an old but little used chipper but it really needs a grands worth of safety bar to buy and fit! Make sure that whatever you buy does comply with current H&SE regs....
