Stoke-on-Trent City Council used to run what looked like a reverse silage trailer with shaft running straight through it and a wheeled PTO chipper towed behind it.
Some tool in its day and I was poking Birch into it with a 13 tonner, no grabs or grapples, just the bucket.[emoji106]

Watch this space as should be able to share something Interesting on this by the new year....

may not be horrendous second hand for someone who already owns a suitable tractor

 

a smaller leap from a 6" Timberwolf would be a 9" machine, e.g one of these big tracked Jensens like you have mentioned -

this one seems reasonably priced at eleven thousand plus tax

According to their website Beaver Plant have the A340T for hire, so someone interested in buying one could possibly go to their yard dragging a big conifer along the road and stuff it through their one (for a small fee) as a demo.

2.4 ton, so under 3.5 ton on a trailer

That one is in Ireland iirc.

 

Due to an issue with the Forst I’m looking again at these machines.

Tracked machine is a no for when I asked customers about tracked loader in gardens they said no and I went for wheeled so can drag any good size towed chipper about in gardens.

Firstly, LOL at asking customers their opinion. 

 

Don't underestimate how quickly towed chippers sink, they all seem to have quite high ground pressure in my opinion. You may find you leave worse ruts dragging a wheeled than carefully tracking a tracked machine. I have a fair size tracked machine (compared to the machines being discussed on this thread) and we can get about pretty well even on wet ground.

Firstly customers I asked had big gardens and are valued customers and I did not buy a machine I could not use.

Also can leave wheeled chipper on hard ground and move brash to it with loader.
