I have to say that IN MY OPINION you are better off steering well clear of an ebay entec ........or any entec for that matter. If you want a cheap chipper look for something which was a bit better than entec when it was new, and you may avoid a whole world of hurt later. I am amazed at all the posts saying how good they are. I have yet to meet anyone who says they were/are anything but total rubbish.

I bought an entec ch25ph off ebay 2 and a half years ago and it has been perfect. Runs ALL day on £15 worth of petrol, blades are cheap to sharpen and it is light enough to push about by yourself.

 

The entec shown, as stated, does not have the HSE compliant stop bar, would need a full repaint and probably other bits. When he says full refurb is that new bearings, blades, rollers, axle or just a coat of primer?

 

If it is in good nick then it would be worth the £2k, then spend another £1k on the paint, stop bar, full service.

 

In my opinion the entec 25ph is an excellent 1st chipper but if you end up with a dog of a chipper then it will be a money pit both in repairs and lost earnings.

They did an 18hp version of this chipper, is this the 18hp version with a 25hp engine fitted?

I got my first mog about 2years after I got the chipper, ran that mog and towed the chipper with it for a couple of years, then got a better mog with a PTO front mount chipper and rear mount crane, kept the entec and sent out a second crew with that and a 130 landy, then six years ago I got my current mog and five years ago I got the trailer with the hiad 071 on it, just under 2 years ago I bought my palfinger.

Entecs are ok little machines to use. They can be very frustrating to use if the rollers are weak though.

Leave it alone, its an old nail and a bag of trouble. I am always weary of machinery that has been "modded" usually spells trouble unless professionally done.

Vermeer 620i with 32hp deutz on it. Its about 20 years old at a guess, and is totally bombproof. I paid 1k for it about 9 years ago after using an entec then 2 different tw150s a good friend owned and i could use whenever i needed as he didnt use them much. I got sooo p-ed off with them falling to bits, being slow and unreliable (and the tws were both bought new, not sure about the entec) that i looked for a cheap 2nd hand machine. Put the diesel on it straight away- the engine cost me nowt, and i paid an ag engineer £438 to fit it. I then bought a new anvil (£80) and a new set of blades (£180). It doesnt have a no stress control, and frankly is so overengineered that it doesnt require one. I have been abusing it now for most of the time i have had it, and have lent it and hired it out and i have yet to find bearing play or any other problems. It is basically bombproof and almost unstoppable.

I know a lot of people hate the 6 series vermeers, but i have to say i find it faultless and as quick as any modern machine i have used. It will rust to pieces before it goes wrong:lol:

And i havent managed to tip it over yet either....

 

Having said all that though.......i sort of like the tw190:blushing:
