Not sure if that is legal.. In fact I am pretty sure admitting that could lead to a unfair dismissal

Correct me if I am wrong but any employer can lay off any employee - as long as they pay the appropriate redundancy.

??? Mr Eggs doesn’t work in the industry so his opinion on wages is less valid.

His opinion on the morality of low wages is less valid as he’s an ex con and therefore has dubious morals.

Nelson Mandela was a right prick too

PAYE in arb is certainly becoming less and less attractive to employers, and the situation needs sorting, and soon.

The amount of ads on here and elsewhere advertising for full time staff on a SE basis is ridiculous.

Full time SE is totally illegal.

No grey area, it’s illegal.

They are another reason... quite a few fire men do tree work on the side...?

Three problem is that we're in an exciting industry so the supply outweighs the demand. If you're feeling threatened by firemen and lawyers in a mid life crisis I'd suggest you're not marketing yourself well enough.

Or you could go into the shit scraping business and have eggs as your sole competitor. Nasty work equals decent pay.

You can lay somebody off legitimately if paying them the sick pay would ruin the business. If it’s one person without a job as opposed to multiple people plus said person anyway.

Exactly this, so long as the redundancy is correct. Better 1 on the dole than 3! Luckily the employee was an older guy who could see it wasn’t possible to keep going as was and I gave him plenty of notice. Maybe if I had 50 employees I could have switched him onto light duties but that’s not my reality.
