Marlow boa as a bridge

Has anyone used Marlow boa as a bridge?

 

My current bridge needs replacing and we have a real of boa at the yard.

Which harness is it for, Treemotion?, for the price and peace of mind I would buy the correct one.

No it's for a courant koala, they normally have a sewn eye rope bridge.

It’ll hold you for sure, but stick to a rope designed for the purpose

Personally i dont see any harm in it but its not the type of rope used for bridges so put your hand in your pocket and buy the manufacturers recommended,fit for purpose bridge you tight arse!

Haha cheers, not really a fan of the sewn eye bridges, I've got a tape bridge at the minute, just thought I'd see if anyone's had any experience with it.

Dyneema is not known for coping with with friction, heat and abrasion very well. I’m not saying a tape sling will fail as a bridge but it’s definitely not what it is intended as

Haha it's not a tape sling, it's a stein bridge, I don't know why I refer to it as a tape bridge. I just like to try alternatives.

I'm sure I read of a bridge failure on a tree motion a while back where the climber replaced his bridge with beeline, which failed.

 

I'd hope that any LOLER instructor worth his salt would not pass an improvised rope bridge.

The core strands of friction cord are pretty much just there to add bulk, not strength; so if you shock load worn friction cord it's more likely to snap, as opposed to a purpose made rope-bridge which has a core with a much higher tensile strength. So you should always use a proper rope bridge, apparently.

Which is a bit arse-about-face come to think of it given that friction cord suffers much greater abrasion but is still life-support ?

Guess it isn't affected by the same metal-on-rope bend radius that a rope bridge would be?

Can anyone elaborate?
