i have a friend.

he's in his 50s, fat and unfit.

he was wanting to know which technique for ascent would be least likely to cause cardiac arrest.

he has tried... (in order of preference)

being winched up on a static rope and pulley by a portable petrol capstan winch.

a ladder

zigzag and a foot ascender

SRT with hand and foot ascender on a loop

SRT with foot and DIY knee ascender (no tree wrench, just a VT attached to a hand ascender and micro pulley

body thrusting.

ok, the first two are to reinforce the fact he is a bloater.

anything else you experienced, not as fit as you once were, chaps, could recommend ?

Legs are the biggest group of muscles in the body so utilising em is the most ergonomic.

Foot + knee ascender srt rw and zz.

Or foot + knee ascender with zz on ddrt but only 50% gain in ascent.

is that with the ZZ just hung below the rope wrench waiting to be used when you get to work position or actually being used SRT?

i, i mean he, tried the second suggestion but for some reason found it a lot less effort with the foot ascender alone, leaving the knee ascender behind
