I know where your coming from, Theres alot of kids like that these days!!

Before I had kids, I used to be a great believer in Nurture, in the Nature vs Nurture debate. After, I'm firmly of the opinion that you can only influence them so much, and they're born with their own personalities and aspirations. I'd love it if my boy had similar interests to me, but he doesn't, simple as, and theres no point beating yourself up about it and trying to turn them into something they're not. They're your children, and you love them whatever. Best to not have kids if you cant handle the fact that they might not turn out the way you'd envisaged - whether thats with effeminate hairstyles and scared of hard work or not.

good for you johny, unfortunately most succesful guys that i know who are great family men have had a crap upbringing and had to work like hell, in our job we work for plenty of rich guys, and most of their kids that i have met are useless ungratefull sods(big generalization i know) so this is where i get comfused, i have had to work my nuts off in a lot of horrible cold dangerous places with guys that terrified me, and i would hate for my boys to have to go through that, BUT life is harsh. It was drummed into me as a kid to get outside and play, if you said you were bored you got a job, if you said you WANTED something you got a lecture, the word NO wasnt allowed. I dont really know what else to do bar work, i have a lot of free time from work these days and i usually end up lost, what do other folk do when they are not working, i have never been into hobbies ans i dont really like jo public, i am happy in the woods or up the hills, but i want to show my boys that there is more to life, i hate football and i couldnt think of anything worse than going to a game, but if my lads wont to then i will, but they will have had to do a few chores to chip in for their pocket money and ticket lol

Come on Mick, there has to be more to it than just money – surely? If it was just about money I’d be working in a print factory, working every God-given hour and taking home 40k a year; either that or working as a gynaecologist.

Nope, just the dosh. Lots of it for little hours giving me loads of spare time. Thats my motivation for sticking with it and not taking a 'proper job'..........'Beaver Inspector' hmmmm like the sound of that though:biggrin:
