Got to give it a go, plus I quite like the idea of making a "hot strimmer" as I doubt its been done very many times, if at all!

That motorised scythe would have had it if the old boy had kept it going. Swap the engine out for a 30HP kart engine, that should do it!

 You would need to tune the length of string  to the power band of the engine, make it a bit longer and it won't rev high enough. You can severely overheat a strimmer motor by dropping the revs with too high a load.

Back in 74 we tried steel line in place of a brush cutter blade ( before plastic line was available) and it fatigues and snaps in short order.

How long did it last? As bear in mind this only has to last for 5 mins, it's a sprint not a marathon.

Why try and beat this fella with a spud ported souped up machine, for kudos? If you did the machine yourself instead of paying someone to do it maybe. Why bother, sometimes man is better than machine. Live with it.

I reckon a GSX1100 engine on an Allen Scythe may get this Simon fella a little worried
