Unimog Alternatives?

Not strictly for tree work.... mainly for ag fencing, but with a bit of ag contract/haulage work and landscaping/clearance....

I am looking for a large 4x4 tipper/dropside that I can use alongside my tractor for general haulage of posts, tools etc. It obviously needs to be pretty reasonable offroad as it has to follow where the tractor has been.

I ve looked at unimogs (and am impressed) but am interested in alternatives.... I have the tractor so dont need a three point linkage/pto etc

We ve been managing with a Discovery and trailer but its now too small, I initially thought of a LR130 tipper and trailer but think it ll be overloaded to easily

Any suggestions? ex military?

The list I have so far (including the odd mog) is

Unimog U1300L

Unimog U100L

Leyland Daf 45/150

Bedford TM (probably getting a bit too big?)

Bedford MJ

There are probably many more options

How do people rate the above?

Budget is as much as neccesary but as little as possible! :001_tt2:

cheers :001_smile:

u1300 mog but not the u100 mog

and get a mog with all the bits already on. it just gives you more options on the job.

ie carry the posts and work the post driver in the one pass

He's talking u1300L, most of which are an x-military personnel carriers which are none agri, so no hydraulics or PTO's.
