Not their job Stubs. 

 

They are in an awkward situation, today was a case in point.

 

I sent the hired man off to grind a lime stump while I went off for some emergency chipper repair.

 

The deal was fell the stick, roll it out the way, grind the stump.

The client got him to ring it up and halve the rings, difficult for him to argue.

Would it do any good to leave a copy of the quote on site so there is no room for arguments? If your guys can have written evidence to fall back on then they might feel more secure in refusing.

I guess, on reflection, it might be because I exude an aura of “don’t come near me or talk to me, I’m busy you bastards”

Our lads have a copy of what the client has, prevents a lot of "Gary said that you'd do... (something extra)". They have some leeway to negotiate a little extra work that might warrant a cupper or £20-30, but if It's going to impact on the days schedule they know to ring me.
