lawn feed and weed

I have always been taught that the all in weed and feed isn't really the answer, the ferrous sulphate that kills the moss does so, but also changes the soil pH causing more moss the next year. Selective weedkillers can help along with feed, but you can't beat scarification, aeration and topdressing in the Autumn to be honest. Proper preparation before seeding/turfing is key, small stones in the topsoil will always result in weeds growing, poor drainage will help moss thrive etc

I hate thoose franchise companies that do this they  charge the homeownwe £50 a month etc for less than 10 minutes work spraying the lawn.

I like moss & daisys in lawns rather than monoculture unnatural looking grass.

that depends how often you want to cut the lawn and what weeds it has

I would go for a low nitrogen +a fe content then a separate spray weed killer to do the weeds that are present if you use a high n feed you will be cutting it every 2 days unless it is a controlled release formula

i have been experimenting with wood ash from my fire and spraying weed with selective weed killer  it seems to work well on making themoss disappear ,not kill but making it inhospitable for it to grow  as from what i have read moss likes acid soil and wood ash has some lime in it which is alkaline  coupled with ash being a natural fertiliser i seem to be getting good natural results over time ,  the grass is not  really dark green and doesn't grow  too fast  but i suppose its depends on what the customer  wants .......... it's usually short term gain  and long term loss rather than being patient and changing conditions that are causing the issue !
