I can't fathom the relevance of the picture of the lady in the 4 photo's?  It's neither of the Cllr's mentioned in the article...  ?

I always enjoy the use of the words ‘hacked’ and ‘brutally’ as if there was a kinder, gentler way to fell trees.

Maybe a slap up meal at their favourite restaurant beforehand?

I'm doing a research project on a similar thing.  The 'Value' of trees lost, very rarely corresponds with fines imposed.

That could easily be applied across a large portion of the criminal justice system - when does the punishment ever really fit the crime, and when does the fine ever really cover the cost of even bringing it to trial....  Quite rarely I would have thought (unverified sweeping generalisation alert)

Poole is where another guy got fined £150k for illegal removal of TPO'd trees a few years ago.
