Log Load Prices??

To answer the questions no I am not VAT registered - my business is not big so is under the threshold to register.

 

And I am quite fussy about species, and logs are well kilned so I do pick up a lot of customers who have had bad experiences with logs not really as dry as they want.

 

And I bag it up differently from most people so customers come to me and go away with anything from 1 to 10 small bags.  There is some effort and time in bagging, but it makes it a really easy product for customers to collect.  Even a Smart car can fit two bags, and a medium hatchback with rear seats down can fit about 8.  The point is the customer can buy as much or as little as they want, when they want.

 

There are just over twelve bags in an IBC cage in case you are wondering.

Good prices!! but can i ask why some firewood merchants bang on about not tree surgeon waste? i do both tree surgery and woodland management and some of my best wood comes from tree surgery, and its free, and i'm getting paid to get rid of it, win win aha

Morning Martin,

I’m not a tree surgeon, neither am I knocking Arb waste but under my Grown in Britain accreditation at least 90% of my timber has to be sourced from managed woodlands.

Likewise, the woodland management we do for clients is based on timber contracts where we take the timber as payment. I’m working a woodland at the moment where in yr1 we felled 70 tonnes of Alder & 300 tonnes of Sycamore/Ash, the Alder was sold for more than the sycamore & ash, covered the cost of works carried out and left me with 200 tonnes to process into firewood.

Ooooohhhhh that is a lot of firewood you burn.  Maybe you should try some of my top quality kiln dried firewood when you move down this way....

Well they will have to go up then! I find this pricing hard work, quiet a few times over the years have driven past customers and seen a small wet load on there drives,the kind of stuff thats been layed on the wood floor for years and is soaked through,i know the guy round here that delivers that rubbish and he charges £90.Ours is only £70 for 1.2m3 and has been barn dried all summer uniformed Beech/Ash and is 1/2 as much again in volume than his....Crazy this is why im thinking this through, how they can take our cusomers selling that sh*t Bewilders me

The most prolific firewood seller in the UK is Certainly Wood.  They probably have more customers than all the firewood sellers on here put together and they don't do it by being the cheapest.
