I did a large rsj/sleeper retaining wall late last year, loads of cutting, I used a large circular rip saw and double cut, an aggressive handsaw is also good, they are full of granite and the creosote in them also dissolves air filters, that's why I try and leave the chainsaw at home. ?

Paul use a builders disc cutter with one of these blades https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PREMIER-PDP-NEW-SLEEPER-TREE-STUMP-CUTTING-TERRASAUR-BLADE-12-300MM-ESSEX/322192401797?epid=1090905519&hash=item4b0429e585:g:PuQAAOSwCcZaIYTw

As it dulls off take it out and turn it,  it sort of cleans itself. They are the biz on dirty wood and can handle stones/crap  :thumbup1:

Steps to walk on?

Theyll be a death trap in winter if so.

Also if they are I’d be tempted to sandblast them 1) for a driftwood type finish 2) to offer a little grip.

There just risers to hold soil back, replacing crap treated soft wood. And not my spec.
