Stihl MS462 vs Husqvarna 572xp

I dont think there’s any real difference between them other than weight.

I have a suspicion that one will be ever so slightly better for fast snedding soft woods but the other better for hard woods and oversized trees, but won’t know until we start felling with them in the new year

I have talked with on of the Stihl guys. Their objective was to reduce weight on their machine. I wonder if this will effect the durability of the 462. 800 Grams difference between the Husqy and Stihl is a lot.
The objective at Husqvarna was to get a saw on the market that is durable in no matter what harsh environment. Getting there ment there couldn't be any weight reduction in some places. The crankshaft is heavier. The ribs on the head that in my opinion need to be there to keep the engine cool are big and positioned in a way that airflow is optimal. The barrier between engine and carb is bigger to keep the carb cool. The body is more durable than previous models.
The head of the Stihl scares me a bit. I hope the cooling on that machine works out ok.

I am surprised we haven't got a thermocouple on the exhaust side of the cylinder yet and some sort of auto-shutdown if it overheats - that would save a few saws from self detonation!

As for operators keeping their saws clean - you are kidding right? Think I only have two customers that do that9_9

Oil guard should be fitted. Certainly make my life easier
