Stihl MS462 vs Husqvarna 572xp

I’ve always been a bit of a bisexual when it comes to Husky and Stihl.

I just want the saw that does the job best.

Normally one seems to steal a march on the other with certain size saws.

It seems both manufacturers have really nailed it with these two saws, which is great news for us cutters!

Just wondering how folk are getting on with their 572s ? I've had mine since July and have found it to be a great saw to the point that my ported saws are getting a rest !

As smooth as the 576 with much better power or should I say more constant power as the AT really is faster than the older version, oils better than the 576 which is pretty good anyway and starts first pull throughout the day.

Be interested to hear other reports ?

So the 462 ... what a belter!! this is the first stihl in a long time I have enjoyed using.
Engine wise it feels very close to a husky in revs close to a 560’s power bands and throttle response maybe but with the torque of a 70cc saw.. ergonomically it does still feel like a stihl but a lot lighter than any 70cc saw we have used but all in I think it’s quite an incredible package...and I’m a husky man through and through!

I looked at the new Stihl 462 at the local dealers the other day, couldn’t believe how light it was.
Lighter even than my much loved Husky 562 with a fair bit more power as well. A serious consideration for a geriatric, slightly arthritic climber like me.

Pretty much been a Husky man all my life with a few exceptions but , ( there is not a lot left of my life ! ) , I impressed with the reports of the 462 being so close to the 572 in performance but noticeably lighter . In my twilight years this could well be a factor ! Reliability  is yet to be established with both saws so.... We shall see . ?

I will be running a 572xp this week with a mate who has recently purchased a ms462, we haven’t used each other’s saws before so we will both be interested in comparing them, both running 20” bars, hand cutting medium/large hardwood.

Will be interested in the results/conclusions .

My mate is a saw mechanic at a Stihl/ Husky main dealer, he says he sees a lot more Husky’s than Stihl’s in for serious issues. We have 2x 346’s that have outlasted every saw we have ever bought. Swings and roundabouts come to mind. [emoji849]
From a users point of view I’ve always favoured the Husky, apart from the ms150t and the ms880 at either end of the spectrum.
