ST6 issues any ideas

The ST6 has started playing up again. A couple of things this time.

Firstly the speed roller adjustment has stopped working, could Thisbe low hydronic oil?

Secondly and maybe more major when I start it up it runs for a few seconds and then cuts out. The only way I have found to get it running is to whack the throttle to full revs but I do realise this isn’t great for the machine especially when first starting it up.

I only use it a couple of days a week at the moment. Thursday Friday and wonder if it’s playing up because it’s sat there for to long between being used.

Any ideas or advise, I’d appreciate it.

Cheers

As Mike says check filters but also check all injector pipes are tight as could be getting air in so allowing fuel to flow back.
Has yours got the electric fuel pump upgrade to bring fuel from the tank to the filter rather than the engine being cranked having to pull it through?

I’m not sure but I doubt it as it was a 2013 model. I thought it may be a fuel issue, I’ll check the filter and the injector pipes in the week. Thanks for the advise

Also is that something I should look at getting redwood to do during the next service if not? Cheers

The cutting out thing is likely the ignition barrel, common problem apparently.

The faulty batch causes a minor loss of voltage which the computer doesn’t like and shuts the engine down.

If it is that, a simple call to Redwood and they’ll send you one out gratis, easy fix.
