Problem shared is a problem solved, glad to hear others have issues and it's not just me being thick! I think I'll have a play with a knut hitch, I don't like having to dress a hitch to get it to bite, makes me uneasy in the tree if I slip/branch snap etc..

 

To be fair lads looks like I'm putting a zigzag on my christmas list

Distel tended to bind up unless the hitch cord was a bit "fluffy"

Try the knut or the michoacan(think thats how to spell it)

Both worked for me.

Are you using a pinto  type pulley or the dmm triple hole pulley?

Using the triple attachment, although I'm yet to use the third loop for positioning ( just use my lanyard) so might just be a waste of space.

I found the Stein blue eye2eye hitch cord to be super grippy on a VT even on 11mm Marlow Aeris.

As far as the arb specific cords go I actually liked this cord, but at £22 a time id sooner just buy a zigzag

The knut is the most reliable hitch I've found. Doesn't need tending and doesn't bind up. Not as fast as a VT and doesn't self tend but less sit back too.

Had a play with the knut this morning, perfect! Using 10mm cord on 13mm rope and its still a nice small hitch that doesnt bind up when my full 100kg is on the rope (through a pulley) and bites every time! Thanks guys!
