I think you'll find the agreement is us agreeing to pay off our liabilities..  it doesn't matter if we get nothing in return..  we're agreeing to pay what we owe, and will pay it off no matter..

We have no legal obligation to pay them a penny, this figure is what we will pay if and only if we are happy with the deal. If we walk they get zip.

 

Also the money will be paid over coming years not in a lump.

Brexit supporters in the cabinet have agreed the UK should offer to pay more money to the EU as it leaves.

Do you understand the concept of liabilities?..   what we owe..  a debt...   Britain isn't accustomed to reneging on its debt.. we will pay no matter what...  its as simple as that...

 

The government might spin it as it wishes but facts are facts, we have, or are, agreeing to a solemn promise.. to repay what we owe..

 

If, the government decides it don't like the trade deal, they're now stumped.. can't do anything about it as far as negotiating our liabilities are concerned..  why do you think the EU made us stump up first?..   not that they didn't have the whip hand to begin with, now they really have us over a barrel...  which is exactly as it should be..  brexiteer numpties haven't got a clue...

No, before we voted to leave, people should of found out what they were voting for..   instead of thinking with their heads they voted with their guts..    which has left us in a bit of pickle..   we've lost a good prime minister in Cameron, his replacement being a feebling..  we have Corbyn on the verge of power, a Marxists Leninist without a clue..  and the stirring once more of Irish nationalism..

As to the big stick, we rolled over for the americans after the war, just as we'll be seen to be rolling over to Europe in the future..  because those numties who voted brexit have made us look weak, because we are weak..   get over it...

We haven’t paid anything yet!
And won’t until we leave and then as someone else said it will be spread over a period of time.
I agree we should be paying what was agreed for the budget that runs to 2020. Minus what we should be receiving in the period between leaving and the end of budget. How it adds up to 45 billion is beyond me as we pay a net £8.Something billion a year so they seem to be offering 5 years, which imo is fine if we get a decent trade deal if not it’s stupid

Wasn’t it Cameron who won an election with the promise of a referendum? Strange he was a good prime given that he had the chance to be so on the back of a promise for us half wits!
