It's not all about money, see Maslows hierarchy of needs theory, but it helps.

 

From a position of wealth and comfort, living in a relatively prosperous country,  it's easy to say that money doesn't matter. Nobody voted to be worse off. Much of the Brexit argument was about how much better off we'd be, remember the bus. If you did vote to be worse off you can transfer all your savings and assets to me to make you happier sooner.

And so it came to pass. But at least they can kick him out in four years time.

 

Having a vote is democracy in action. Farage was demanding a second referendum before the first one was over because he thought leave had lost. What is it about a vote that Brexit supporters fear. Or is democracy only acceptable if the result is what you want.

Ok Slopey shoulders on that question, I thought so you could see where it was going. 

 

If if there is a 2nd referendum and the outcome was the same, would you accept it?

Are you suggesting that the 1975 referendum was in any way similar to the 2016 one in it's question or consequence?

To settle the argument once and for all,to keep everyone happy etc, I propose that we do have another referendum. In 2060

Our relationship with the EU will never be the same, we have gone past the point of return. We have signalled our intent to leave, will the 27 members allow us to reverse that and if so at what cost?!

 

We need to make out work which I believe we can.

A lot of people voted out because we aren’t allowed to deport convicted terrorists, murderers, rapists etc... but instead we have to accommodate their families on benefits in swanky £million pound Hampstead houses. Because we have to pay £billions and £billions into pension schemes for unelected Eurocrats. Because our fishermen have to throw back perfectly good catches into the sea while millions of people starve to death. Etc.. etc...
And now that we have voted to leave they are really showing their true colours.
For remainers it seems it really is just about the money.

I would say, the majority of people who voted to leave in the referendum, did so because they would rather have an elected, independent, British Government - rather than a committee appointed, Federal European one in the near future. All the rest is an aside.

Times change, and the biggest change between the last referendum and leaving In 18 months is that we'll know what the deal will be. In 75 it was back to the good old days, which at the time didn't seem that good, or a path to a 'better' globalised future. I actually campaigned out. And I mean campaigned, door knocking, on the streets etc. I was wrong, and I'm not afraid to admit it.

 

This time around people didn't know what they were voting for. Take back control, our independence day, project fear, a lie on the side of a bus, promises of a new hospital every week. Remain were not any better. Maybe worse.

 

Nobody should be afraid of a vote at the end so people can make an informed decision in light of the facts. Especially if, as we are repeatedly told, being out is going to be so much better than in.

 

 

It was a similar yes/no option, of course - but the question could not have been more different.  

 

What you appear to be suggesting, is that because it's a binary option, as before, the question is the same?  Like shall I fly or shall I walk yes/no so they must have the same implications....  Bizarre!

So say for arguments sake, we have another vote once we’ve been offered the deal by Brussels, and (of course) they give us a lousy one and the nation changes its mind and we vote to stay in the EU, what then?

The prodigal returns to his fathers house and the father rushes out to meet him, embraces him, this is my beloved son who was lost but now he’s returned. The father weeps tears of joy, tells his 27 servants to put a royal robe on him, a gold ring on his finger and go kill the fatted calf for a banquet to celebrate his return!!!!
