rb44s still have brake trouble and parts are hard to find. they rust badly and are only a two seater cab.loads of them at withams most have done little miles due to them been unrelieble, start at 2-3k,but still wouldnt have one.need hgv licence to drive one.went into buying one for work but wasnt a fesible option torun them every day!old hat machines, unavaible parts and vehicles which dont meet current construction and use regs.

Brake parts are dead easy to get if your mechanic knows were the original parts were sourced from.

Not really any more rusty than anything else, we waxoyled ours and resprayed them.

As for unreliable, I cant agree with you there, the Perkins Phaser is famous as a reliable engine.

Most have done low mileages as they spent a lot of theire time in hangers waiting for the brake upgrade, and then all they did was tootle around runways.

As a 5.5 tonne vehicle, you need a pre 97 licence or a C1 to drive one. Same as any other truck...?

As for not meeting current construction and use regs, have you got more detail on that?

Frankly, You've not owned 1, and I find your post full of the usuall hearsay spouted by Landrover fans. I've owned 2, and can refute all your statements.

I had one on a k reg it started every time first time . Would take a heap load of chip and not look over loaded . Heaters never were any good on mine . Only sold it as I had an amazing bid on her by another contractor . I simply wish I had kept her . Air brakes were spot on , couldnt get the winch to work though . I would buy her back today if I had the chance .
