I start at 7.30am usually on job by 8/ 8.30pm.

Today i finnished a job at 5.30pm. Headlights on.

I gave the costumer a day rate...and they wanted me to work on till 10pm the get job done...No frickin way!...told them if they want me back it will be extra.

Don't see any other trades working 16hr days so why should tree surgeons.

Thats the exact reason if the customer insists on a day rate I make sure they know I base it on a 6 hour day and the clock stops for tea breaks and lunch

Just DON'T give them the option!!!!!!!!

The only time I do day rate is for commercial clients, so I don't have to look at the job and only then when I trust them not to take the mick.

I learnt very quickly Dave, so 99% of the time it's on a price.

Martyn, the worst thing ever is the customer expecting too much, the last one I did I told them we are humans not machines, he kept coming out and saying when you've done that , do this, then that then this. He tried getting us to fit about three days work into a day.

I just stood there laughing
