Vermeer, Morbark. Just don't go crazy loading to much in at one time. Like any other material that is fed into a chipper don't over do it. I would not wast my time converting the end product into mulch.

If you choose to use the fronds as mulch just remember the seed pods will be your undoing and you will have more palms in your garden than can tolerate.

I have bandit 90 with the Perkins engine it chips palms no problem and throws it into a ten tonne trailer with out blocking

vermeer 1800xl will chip most palms.If the wood is very wet i do have to monitor the exit carefully otherwise the chute may get blocked.

To best chip fronds run them in backwards in a big bunch

When chipping any sort of palm i run the feed wheels flat out .

I have a Morbark M8D petrol model. Chips fronds without any bother, have chipped Washingtonias and Pheonix. It also has a feed roller speed control so you can turn it as slow as you want. I find the mulch very stringy and personally wouldn't spread it on my garden.. unless I had nothing else maybe! I'm yet to try whole Trachycarpus (including trunks) but will give it a go.

Trying out a secondhand Vermeer BC600XL....might be a bit small, will see....have a mountain of fronds in various stages of hardness and size to test......
