  4. Use it and a Zubat up palm trees, both equally ace
  5. That's what's happening I think......a lot of my jobs are in huge tall Washingtonias that haven't been touched for years and virtually all the waste is rock hard dry frond....
  6. Thanks for the continued replies, all appreciated. Don't know what to do now, think might by a Lorry instead. .....
  7. Trying out a secondhand Vermeer BC600XL....might be a bit small, will see....have a mountain of fronds in various stages of hardness and size to test......
  8. I would engage the services of a solicitor and find out exactly what can be done.

  13. What type of machine are you using? Personally, I haven't chipped fronds yet, and we didn't have palm trees in Scotland before we emigrated! So I'm on a learning curve....I have read that there are a lot of reported problems due to the fibrous nature of fronds, which seems likely ....ideally I'd like to get a second hand chipper and turn the fronds into mulch...
  14. Fabulous, thank you, will check them out. Might be just the job.....
  15. yes, thanks for that, i had forgot totally about shredding type things... will do some research
  16. Hi all, I work in Fuerteventura, Tree surgery, arborist business, I'm getting a load of palm tree pruning and cleaning work now and to be honest I :001_smile:need a chipper to get shot of the waste on site. Usually it all goes in the truck and off to the council recycling plant for mulch, but with hotel contracts theres just too much. I doubt very much if some palm waste can be chipped, particularly the Washingtonia type, which is stringy and incredibly tough. Not worried about chipping the stems, I just block them down and in the truck and away, its the fronds which are the massive problem. Anyone successfully chipped large commercial volumes of palm fronds and if so what with!! Thanks folks, John
  17. Hmmmmm.....mines a bit bare....but I do have Chona the Tree Dog......
  18. Yes, it's ace. Lots and lots of Palms, a few laurels and quite a lot of Australian imports like beefwood trees. Never be rich but it's a great place, surfs ace too
  19. Fair enough Don't have grass here Or hedges
  20. Yes I suppose it looks nicer but it's not very good for the tree. People here are very keen to have these ornamental palms instead of leaving them to grow as intended, assisted by minimal pruning. I've been asked to do them, but after reading papers from the University of Florida about palm tree pruning, I've changed my mind and only do minimal maintenance and cleaning work on them.
  21. I go to the Moroccan bakery in old town Corralejo.....
  22. We get it here where everyone wants their Canary Date palms to look like a pineapple. Even the Council do it....very bad and disheartening...
  23. Cleaning a Phoenix Canariensis at Corralejo, Fuerteventura. Pretty rotten tree, not been watered or fed! advice given to the owner so we will see.....
