So, I see this flower ever spring/early summer, and it bothers me I don't know what it is.

 

Comes in three colours, pink, more red and white (just visible in the background)

 

I live in SW France but similar climate to southern England. Grows anywhere, here out of a wall, but just as happy in the ground next to a wall, seems to favour a dry environment.

 

Fleshy stems and leaves if you know what I mean.

That's red valerian - Centranthus ruber not valerian - Valeriana officialanis. Both commonly called valerian just to be confusing

 

Not confusing at all!

In fact it makes things clearer; different things have different names.
