Drying kindiling in loft, will it work?

Depending on the species ( of kindling wood ) I would be wary of taking anything up there thats not treated . The last thing you need is wood worm in the joists .

Loft should have decent airflow

As far as drying kindling up there is concerned I'd forget about cutting and drying kindlers and buy a pack of firefighters.

This as long as you have well seasoned logs firefighters are so much better.

Unless you have plenty of space and a child to split your kindling! My boy is six now and he will be getting a hatchet for his next birthday!

The joists for the loft are generally much smaller than floor joists so watch your loading

I have gone ahead and moved about a 1/4 of my kindling up, and I am going to see how it goes (I will update the thread with my results in about a month).

 

The pictures have not came out to well (all thanks to loft lighting). So I will give a brief explanation, I have stacked 4 of those supermarket type hdpe crates and filled them with, seasoned but wet kindling. For any of you wondering about the weight, I have put them directly on the top of a load bearing wall.
