What is sloe gin and why do you make it.

 

I think there is some berries in the hedge along the road this time of the year.

 

What do the berries look like and how do you make it.

 

Sorry for so many questions but i come from townie stock.

it's well good and dead easy to make - everyone's recipe varies slightly but basically sloes, sugar, almond essence and the cheapest nastiest gin possible (for some reason it always works best).

 

We always used to freeze the sloes first then thaw them out - not sure why but everyone else did so we did :blushing:

And makes them less tart...
