I've ever weighed one, maybe a sack is 300kg? Avant say they can lift 800kg, but I'm concerned that the height and reach looks pants. I'm used to a full sized Manitou that can lift 3000kg nearly 7 meters.

my 520 will lift to 2.8m

don't forget they have an extendable boom

Thanks. Have you ever stacked grain sacks in two layers with it? I put pallets in the middle to provide more stability.

You’ll need a large loader with a decent hp engine (read: expensive model with all the emissions bollocks) to do that. 
 

I’d buy a loader to suit what you want to lift, and then spend what you would have spent on the expensive Avant flail on a secondhand compact tractor and flail. Much more efficient being pto drive. I don’t run any attachments save a grab and sweeper on my loader.

It'll lift an ibc of green logs at full height and reach. Which is around 380kg

decisions decisions.  I currently have an ageing full sized Manitou, which is f-ing brilliant as a loader, but the repairs are starting to get expensive.  Clearly it won't run a flail.  I was hoping to replace it with something new and smaller (25-50hp) that could also run a flail.  Maybe it would be unrealistic to have a one size-fits all.

Sell the manitou, buy a small compact tractor with some creature comforts and a small rough terrain forklift.

 

Got myself an old Ausa C11, 1.2ton capacity. 900cc engine Vs using the 4000cc tractor loader, it's a no brainer with red at 93p a litre.

I’m not sure if avants or multi one offer this, but using a finger bar mower on a multi one 7 series was only ok at best, every time you turn, adjust the boom etc it saps power from the attachment, would be handy having a dedicated pump running the attachment line? 
 

do you need to transport it on a trailer? Or is it gonna be at the Same place most of the time?
