Honda GX25

Hi I wonder if anyone can help with this small 4 stroke engine.It starts with two or three pulls but only runs for 2 minutes and stops.I cleaned the tank and fuel filter no change.Dismantled the carb and cleaned it no change then bought a repair kit for carb but the problem is still the same,any ideas what may be wrong?

Probably a faulty oil level gauge. They fail and switch off your engine.

I appear to have my engines muddled , but that's acceptable at my age.

start by removing the engine kill wire it could be the engine oil level sensor thats playing up

Thank you for replies I have disconnected the the kill switch it is still the same.Does GX25 definitely have a oil sensor switch?

I got a spare one had a look dont think it has an oil level cut out

Air filter or choke problem? Only running till its warm. Other than that which is obvious my money is on the carb.

Interested to see how this one pans out - we have a similar engine on one of our generators which will run fine after we fit a new spark plug, but then won't restart after it has been stopped. Six plugs fitted so far but no lasting remedy!

These small gx can suffer from the gasket between carb and head.

Maybe it's the tank vent. Have you tried leaving the gas cap open?

This is a good call , tank pulling a vacuum maybe ? Another possibility is low compression . Runs till it gets warm , clearances open up , compression drops of to the extent it wont combust ......
