  1. Away from where the saw is for couple of days so I can't try this.Watched some more stuff on youtube "The greasy shop rag" guy used super glue on rubber at a oil pipe vent, was wodnering if it was worth trying where the two rubber sealing/ transfer fittings encapsulate the oiler tube?Or would you recommend some other sealent?
  2. All back together still not oiling properly stripped it back to here should the oil be pumping better than this? IMG_9368.MOV
  3. Thats great info thanks, I had checked all but the throw which I didn't know about.Do you agree that the oil should be pouring out the way I mentioned in my last post? When the pump is rebuilt should there be be grease packer in where the nylon gear is?
  4. Saw stopped oiling, dismantled the oil pump cleaned everything cheaked for wear and all is grand, cleaned tank cleaned oil filter in tank rebuilt and still not oiling. Before I packed up today had the pump out yet again I took the rubber that has the filter on it out,the hole thats left I presume the chain oil should be pouring out that hole but its not. This is why I thought about the cap.
  5. Thanks of that I have the 45 parts manual and nothing in that, still searching the net, somebody must know.
  6. There is a notch on the casing where the oil cap screws on would that be it.Should this cap have a washer or o ring?

Hi,I bought this saw 30 years ago and have used it for cutting firewood ever since, it cuts well for a small saw starts with seven or eight pulls from cold if I leave it on idle it will just keep running, warm it starts with one pull.My question is it's really easy to pull and seems to be getting easier I did a compression test and its 145 psi I took the muffler off and there is marking on the piston.I checked the guage with another guage and its reading correctly. If I tried to lift the saw by the cord I cant do it the cord just comes out.Can anyone tell me why the reading is relatively high but the compression seems from the cord to be so bad?
  10. Are you saying that fully synthetic 2 stroke oil thats used in mopeds can't be used.
  11. Hi,I have inherited two old Husqvarna chainsaws a 45 and 61 they are running very well. What is the fuel oil mix for these saws I read online that it was 50/1 if you use Husqvarna 2 stroke oil but 33/1 or 25/1 if other 2 stroke oils were used is this true?Any advice would be great

    Petrol mix

Thank you for reply. The main reason I was trying to get correct mix is it takes a fair few pulls to get it to start and when it does start if I try to to give it full throttle it will try to rev up but then it starts to cut out.If I let go of accelerator it will keep running at idle.If I half choke it I can get it to full revs and after it runs for a while I can then get it to full revs but the problem can return when warm.

    Petrol mix

Hi,I have got a pole saw with an identical looking engine to this one but there are no labels or markings on it.Did some reading up on the net and this engine is fitted to a lot of those 5 and 1 tools.I'm trying to get the correct oil/petrol mix and I have read anything from 25/1 to 50/1.Does anyone know the correct mix and who makes the original engine?
  17. Cleaned the carb and its running perfect thank you all.If using an ultrasonic cleaner what cleaner do you put in it.
  18. Thank you for replies.I will clean the carb and see if that fixes it.
  19. Hi I have a rover lawnmower with this engine. After priming it starts first pull but then dies out.If I keep giving the primer bulb a few presses while its dieing out it will keep going and after a few minutes it will run without help.To restart I have to prime again but it will keep running.I have sent for new primer bulb, do you think this is definitely the problem or could it be something else?

On another site a guy advised me to use a small shot of easy start as the engine started to die and if it kept going it would indicate a fuel problem.I don't like using starting fluid but when I gave the engine a gentle spray it gave a small bang and stopped when I pulled the cord again off she went like the clappers I have used her for most of the day with no problems.Thank you all for taking the time to reply.

I have tried to run it with the petrol cap off still no good and tried with air filter off and no good.If it runs for 2 minutes would this not suggest that it is not a coil problem?
